Osmometer

Measures the osmotic concentration of a solution by freezing-point depression.

Determines the total concentration of dissolved particles in a solution by measuring how far its freezing point falls below that of pure water. The depression is proportional to osmolality regardless of what the solute is, which is why it remains the reference method for confirming that a parenteral is iso-osmotic before release.
