Tablet Friability Tester
Measures mechanical strength by tumbling tablets and recording weight loss.
Tumbles a weighed sample of tablets in a rotating drum for a set number of revolutions, then re-weighs them. The percentage lost shows whether the tablets will survive coating, packing and transport without chipping or capping.

Friability is described in USP <1216> and Ph. Eur. 2.9.7; the usual limit is not more than 1.0% weight loss.
